Hosting the 5th Full Meeting of the Standing International Forum of Commercial Courts at Qatar University was a major highlight, welcoming over 170 judges from nearly 60 jurisdictions. Our international outreach included successful trips to Singapore, Pakistan, and Dubai, enhancing global cooperation and knowledge exchange. Notably, our Registrar participated in the Pakistan International Disputes Weekend (PIDW) and delivered lectures at the Federal Judicial Academy in Islamabad, forging strong links in the country.
We issued a record number of judgments this year, marking a 20% increase compared to 2023. Significant judgments such as Qatar Financial Centre Authority v Horizon Crescent Wealth LCC [2024] QIC (F) 1, Manan Jain v Devisers Advisory Services LLC [2024] QIC (A) 2, Ahmed Al-Khateeb v Nexus Financial Services WLL [2024] QIC (A) 6, and B v C [2024] QIC (F) 20 demonstrated our commitment to fair and timely justice. The launch of our innovative Legal Clinic, the first of its kind in the jurisdiction, has already provided legal assistance to numerous individuals and companies. The Clinic complements our existing Pro Bono Scheme and involves collaboration with expert law firms, widening access to justice and contributing to the rule of law.
We hosted distinguished panels at various prestigious events, including the Doha Forum, the "Digital Technologies and International Commercial Courts" seminar, and a mediation panel in Dubai. The inaugural Doha Arbitration Day, where we played a strategic role, showcased our dedication to promoting arbitration in Qatar. Our team-building activities and productive meetings with high-level delegations, like the Shanghai Financial Court, further strengthened our international presence. Significant legal amendments were made with the introduction of Law No. 16 of 2024, enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of our court proceedings. A new Judicial Enforcement Law (Law No. 34 of 2024) was also launched by the State of Qatar which will now be the template for our enforcement processes.
Additionally, we welcomed outstanding students from the College of Law, Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), and presented various prizes to top-performing students on the JD Program. This initiative is part of our MoU with HBKU, aimed at supporting legal education and fostering future leaders in the legal field.
