Summary

In the Regulatory Tribunal of the Qatar Financial Centre, Sharq Insurance LLC appealed against a determination by the QFC Employment Standards Office (ESO) regarding the termination of senior employee Mr. Mohammad Abdelhaleem Ghazwi. Sharq terminated Mr. Ghazwi's contract on 1 August 2021 and paid salary in lieu of notice. Mr. Ghazwi claimed unpaid benefits, including annual airfare. The ESO found Sharq in breach of employment regulations and contract terms. However, the tribunal upheld Sharq’s appeal on the termination notice issue but sided with Mr. Ghazwi on the entitlement to prorated annual air tickets for 2021.
