Through its supervisory arbitrational jurisdiction under Law No 2 of 2017 issuing the Arbitration Law in Civil and Commercial Matters, parties can elect the QICDRC as the “Competent Court” of arbitration to perform various functions in relation to interim measures, enforcement of awards and appeals.

Summary

In a summary judgment dated 15 May 2025, Justice Fritz Brand ordered MBG Corporate Services LLC to pay Claire Holloway QAR 2,200 for unpaid leave and 5% interest on QAR 22,150 from 23 March 2025 until payment. Holloway, a South African citizen residing in Qatar, had an employment dispute with MBG, a QFC-licensed company. The court found MBG improperly deducted sick leave days from Holloway's leave entitlement. Holloway was also awarded reasonable costs for pursuing the claim, to be assessed by the Registrar if not agreed upon. Both parties were self-represented.
