Summary

The Qatar Financial Centre Civil and Commercial Court dismissed Rudolfs Veiss's claim against Youssif Al-Tawil due to lack of jurisdiction. Veiss, a Latvian citizen, sought repayment of QAR 365,000 from Al-Tawil, a Jordanian citizen, which was allegedly a personal loan for the benefit of Prime Financial Solutions LLC. Despite procedural complexities and a travel ban, the court found no inherent jurisdiction under its creating legislation (QFC Law, article 8(3)(c), and Court's Rules article 9.1). The claim against Al-Tawil, thus, was dismissed without costs.
