Summary

The Qatar Financial Centre Court dismissed a QAR 6 million claim by Iqbal Mia’s heirs against Seib Insurance following his fatal workplace accident, ruling that it lacked jurisdiction. Seib’s policy indemnified Mia’s employer, Redco, but gave the heirs no independent right to claim directly against the insurer. Unlike a precedent involving motor insurance, this policy did not permit third-party claims. The Court made no findings on Seib’s allegation that premiums remained unpaid. The heirs were ordered to pay Seib’s reasonable application costs.
