Summary

In a judgment dated 16 October 2025, the Qatar Financial Centre Civil and Commercial Court dismissed an application by a law firm (Applicant) for lack of jurisdiction and ordered the Applicant to pay the Respondent's reasonable costs. The Applicant, licensed in the QFC, sought interim relief related to an engagement agreement for arbitration services between it and a Lebanese corporate entity (Defendant). The Respondent, a corporate entity in Qatar but outside the QFC, challenged the Court’s jurisdiction, which the Court upheld, citing the lack of a direct contractual relationship between the Applicant and Respondent and limitations under QFC regulations.
