Summary

In the case between Gulf Insurance Group (Gulf) and AlJaber Engineering, the Qatar Financial Centre Civil and Commercial Court's Appellate Division ruled against Gulf's application to set aside a previous cost order. The initial judgment on 15 February 2026 had allowed AlJaber's appeal due to improper service of the claim form by Gulf. Gulf's subsequent application to overturn the cost order was dismissed as baseless. The Court found Gulf's service attempts non-compliant with procedural rules and highlighted that the law firm's oversight contributed to unnecessary costs. Gulf was ordered to pay AlJaber's legal costs on an indemnity basis.
