In 2025, one Practice Direction was issued clarifying appellate procedure before the Court following the reissue of the Court’s Rules and Procedures.
Practice Direction No. 1 of 2025 on Appeals was issued by the President of the QICDRC to provide clarity and guidance on the appeal process before the QFC Civil and Commercial Court and the Regulatory Tribunal. The Practice Direction, following the reissue of the Court’s Rules and Procedures under Law No. 39 of 2025, sets out a structured framework governing applications for permission to appeal and appeals generally. Under the Practice Direction, the appeal process is more streamlined and is subject to a permission stage. It reinforces the role of the Appellate Division as a review body, emphasising that appeals are not rehearings and that new arguments or evidence will only be admitted in exceptional circumstances.
