Expert witnesses can be valuable tools for courts in dispute resolution. However, courts in different jurisdictions take different approaches to deploying expert witnesses. This event explores the role of the expert witness in a QFC-style court in international commercial litigation. In short, expert witnesses are not called as a matter of course: they are only used where the subject area is such that the court is not able itself to understand a matter without the assistance of an expert.

Through its supervisory arbitrational jurisdiction under Law No 2 of 2017 issuing the Arbitration Law in Civil and Commercial Matters, parties can elect the QICDRC as the “Competent Court” of arbitration to perform various functions in relation to interim measures, enforcement of awards and appeals.
