In celebration of Qatar National Day, the College of Law at Hamad Bin Khalifa University presents an online colloquium reflecting on democracy and the constitution of Qatar.

The Amir’s recent announcement that Qatar will hold elections for its Shura Council (Advisory Council), Qatar’s legislative body, is consistent with the promise of democracy set out in the constitution.

QFC Regulatory Tribunal and the Resolution of Regulatory Disputes in Financial Zones

Synopsis:

International Commercial Courts are an institutional innovation in transnational adjudication established to resolve private and commercial law disputes. Some of these courts are created within free financial zones as the default forum for all disputes arising out of the zone. In the Qatar Financial Centre (QFC), the Regulatory Tribunal hears complaints raised by individuals and corporate bodies against decisions of the QFC regulators. Similar functions are undertaken by courts in other zones.

Join us in partnership with our Strategic Alliance Partner, LexisNexis Middle East, for an online training session on Drafting Mediation Clauses.

During this training session, our Senior Legal Counsel will focus on how to draft an effective mediation clause for commercial contracts and what issues and language to avoid when drafting such clauses. Participants will also learn how to explain to clients and stakeholders how mediation can be a viable dispute resolution method.
