2025 marked a significant milestone for the Court as we celebrated 15 years

2025 marked a significant milestone for the Court as we celebrated 15 years of advancing justice, strengthening the rule of law, and reinforcing Qatar’s position as a leading destination for international dispute resolution. Over the past fifteen years, the Court has continued to evolve as a trusted and forward-looking institution, committed to excellence, innovation, and efficiency.

This anniversary not only reflects on the Court’s achievements and growth since its establishment, but also reaffirms its vision for the future — building on a strong foundation to further enhance judicial services, continuously embrace innovation, and contribute to a resilient and internationally connected legal ecosystem.

2025 brought more growth and development for the QICDRC.

A major development during 2025 was the launch of the QICDRC Training Program on International Commercial Courts. This was a high-quality course delivered by the Registry with QICDRC Judges which focused on litigation and procedure at international courts, with an emphasis on the QICDRC.

2025 has been a year of significant achievement and continued advancement for the Qatar International Court and Dispute Resolution Centre (QICDRC), reinforcing our role as a global leader in international commercial dispute resolution. This year also marked our busiest on record for cases filed, reflecting the increasing trust of users in the Court’s modern and efficient judicial processes.

The Court & Regulatory Tribunal

As at the end of 2025, the judiciary of the Court and the Regulatory Tribunal comprised 16 judges hailing from a variety of jurisdictions, including Qatar, England and Wales, Australia, Singapore, France, China, India, the USA, Hong Kong, and South Africa, uniquely covering both the common law and civil law traditions (and within the latter, the European civilian tradition, the Qatari civilian tradition, and the Chinese civilian tradition).

Cases Filed Before the Court

Legal Clinic

The QICDRC Legal Clinic, launched in October 2024, continued to develop in 2025, further strengthening access to justice by providing legal assistance to individuals and companies with civil and commercial matters beyond the Court’s jurisdiction. In 2025, the Legal Clinic received more than 130 requests for assistance, reflecting growing awareness of the initiative and demand for early legal guidance.

Practice Directions 2025

In 2025, one Practice Direction was issued clarifying appellate procedure before the Court following the reissue of the Court’s Rules and Procedures.

Registry Article Initiative

During 2025, the Registry launched a new initiative to publish regular articles, primarily through LexisNexis Middle East, aimed at keeping legal professionals across the GCC and beyond informed of key developments, cases, and procedural updates from the QICDRC.

Miscellaneous

The QFC Court addressed issues arising from the use of artificial intelligence in litigation, including the improper citation of unverified and fictitious legal authorities generated by AI tools.
